The South Dublin UFO
Lloyd Murphy, a journalist with the Evening Herald, in Dublin Eire contacted NWUR Founder, Pat Regan, on 28th July 2009.
Lloyd requested Pat's opinion concerning a strange light in the South Dublin sky, which was photographed by a witness called Yvonne Daly, from Windy Arbour. The report stated:
Yvonne Daly, from Windy Arbour, was sitting in her back garden at 6am on Thursday when a strange red object caught her attention in the sky, leaving her puzzled. She said: "The sun was coming up, it was very bright. When I looked up to the sky a big red blob got my attention, it was like a jellyfish, I couldn't explain what it was. "Luckily I had my mobile phone on me, so I took a picture of it."

The unidentified flying object spotted last week in the Dublin sky was “probably the planet Venus”, according to some suggestions mentioned in the Dublin report. However, NWUR feel that another potential likelihood may be behind this particular sighting.
A sun dog or sundog (also called a parhelion, plural parhelia, for "beside the sun" or Mock Sun.) it is a particular type of ice halo. It is a colored patch of light to the side of the sun. Sundogs can be seen anywhere in the world during any season. In Europe or USA they might be seen 1-2 times per week but not always perceptibly bright. As with the shot printed in the Dublin Evening Herald, such phenomena are best seen and at their most prominent when the Sun is lower in the sky. There forms may vary in appearance too. They are not rainbows. They are produced from ice crystals.
This is only one possibility herein, yet the exact origin of the sighting is still not proven.
NWUR asked if the aviation authorities had been alerted to it. We have not had chance to scrutinise the original image of the Dublin sighting therefore our above suggestions can only be a theory, and not any kind to conclusive proof.
Addendum:
Pat Regan adds:
Following the Dublin story I was contacted by one Jason Conroy. Jason told me:
“I was reading the evening Herald the other night when I came across the story about the Sundog, I took a picture a couple of weeks ago of a beautiful sunset and when I looked back at the picture I couldn’t believe how Amazing it was. I have attached the picture and zoomed in on the Sundog? I would greatly appreciate if you could let me know if what I captured is a Sundog or some other phenomena.”
Above: Jason Conroy's striking sundog picture with the phenomena clearly seen as a glowing ball of light to the right of the Sun
I wrote back to Jason and agreed that he did seem to have captured another sundog image from his bedroom window in Tallaght. This would seem to add weight to my earlier suspicions that the Yvonne Daly image may also have been a sundog.
